Adjuncts

Brief

As we move from summer/autumnal brews into xmas bangers this is a great time of the year for seeing lots of beers that make use of adjuncts in the recipe.

So, for this competition: Brew any style of beer in which an ingredient outside of barley, wheat, oats, rye, hops, water, and yeast makes a noticeable contribution to the flavour and/or aroma. Malted, unmalted, and roasted variants of the grains listed above are all considered standard ingredients and do not qualify.

There are loads of potential kitchen cupboard ingredients to choose from such as fruit, herbs/spices, coffee, nuts, botanicals, chocolate/sweets, berries, vanilla, vegetables, rice, guords etc etc. The main thing to keep in mind especially with adjuncts like rice and sugar is that the adjunct must be noticeable on the aroma and/or flavour when being judged. Scoring will reflect being able to detect the adjunct(s) you use.

So get rummaging around your cupboards and come up with the next greatest adjunct beer!.
